NOTE: In order to provide readers of my Blog with the most clothing options to choose from, I try out more styles than I’m personally able to buy and keep. I do my best to note which items I have personally bought. Please be aware that items with a “Buy” rating may not be ones I personally own. The “Buy” rating indicates that the clothing item passes my standards for garment fit. Additionally, there are “affiliate links” (i.e. a link with a special tracking code) in this blog post. If you purchase something via “affiliate links” on my blog, I may earn commission.
The irony of this blog post is not lost on me. When I was growing up, I desperately wanted to fit into Abercrombie jeans like my friends. However, since I was curvier their jeans didn’t fit my butt or thighs. Fast forward to now, Abercrombie now carries Curvy fit jeans! Mind blown! Not only do they carry Curvy fit jeans, but they also offer extra short and short inseams. So us petite girls are covered! I’m glad to see yet another brand is getting with the program and finally catering to more body types.
PULL UP FOR CHANGE MOVEMENT: While Abercrombie did not participate in the Pull Up for Change initiative, I was able to find diversity data for the company from 2017. However, it’s still a bit vague and unclear how diverse the company is at the VP level. “We are proud that more than 60% of our entire organization is female, including more than 40% of our VPs and above, including our two Brand Presidents, our COO and our CEO. Additionally, nearly 60% of our U.S. population self-identify as persons of color.” While Abercrombie has now prioritized diversity and inclusion, historically they did not. In 2004, a race and sex discrimination lawsuit resulted in Abercrombie having to feature more Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians in marketing materials so as not to discourage them from applying to jobs. This case was just one among others that held Abercrombie accountable for it’s unequal treatment of minorities and women.

Abercrombie Curve Love High Rise Super Skinny Ankle Jeans – Size 28 Regular
What I loved…
-
Fit – Out of all the jeans I tried from Abercrombie these fit me the best by far, especially in the waist. There was virtually no gapping! Additionally, there was enough room in the hip area so they did not feel too restrictive.
-
Button Front – I love this detail because I don’t own any jeans like this! They also remind me of the Good American jeans I tried recently.
What could have been better…
-
Length – They were a tiny bit long, but since they are a raw hem (unfinished) jean one could easily adjust the length.
Sizing Note: I chose the regular length inseam instead of the short inseam because of the measurements provided on their website. Abercrombie listed the regular length inseam for this style as 26.5’’ and short as 24.5’’. Since I generally prefer jeans with a 26’’ or 27’’ inseam, I knew the regular length would work best for me. Want to know what inseam length you should buy? I recommend taking the inseam measurement of a favorite pair of jeans to determine what will work best for you. Check out my guide here.

Abercrombie Curve Love High Rise Mom Jeans – Size 28 Short
What I loved…
-
Minimal waist gap – Compared to the Abercrombie Curve Love Ultra High Rise Straight Leg jeans these fit me much better! While the jeans were slightly big in the waist, the jeans didn’t gap due to the waistband being stretchy.
-
Length – This time I opted to buy the short length jeans (rather than regular) and they were the ideal for me!
What could have been better…
-
Slightly big in certain areas – If you look at the back image of the jeans, you can see they look a little baggy in the thigh area. I will point out that my weight is lower (my current measurements above) than normal so these jeans were a bit in the hip area as well. If I had been back at my usual measurements of 28’’ waist and 40’’ hip, then I likely wouldn’t have had this fit issue.

Abercrombie Curve Love Ultra High Rise Straight – Size 28 Short (link to new washes)
What I loved…
-
Style – Although these did not fit me how they were supposed to, I’m still a fan of this silhouette. They remind me a lot of the Ribcage jeans from Levi’s, which ultimately fit me better.
What could have been better…
-
Too big in the waist – These fit very differently than the skinny leg jeans above in the waist. They were too big so this caused the front crotch area to sag down, resulting in drag lines.
-
Too big in the thigh area – Since they were too big in the thigh area, they looked very frumpy on the back side of the jeans. As I’ve discussed on Instagram recently, I have lost weight during quarantine. However, this has not be intentional. It’s resulted in me falling a little in between sizes, but I still generally wear a Size 6 or Size 28. I think they would have fit me better if I was closer to my normal weight.
Denim Ratings:

Waist Gap: 3

Garment measurements:

Front rise = 12”

Inseam = 25”
Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around.

Abercrombie Curve Love Ultra High Rise Kick Flare – Size 28 Short (link to new washes)
What I loved…
-
Style – While I’ve been wanting to find a pair of good kick flare jeans, these were not quite the right fit for me. So I’m going to have to keep shopping around because I am a fan of the style.
-
Button fly – Just like the Super Skinny jeans above, I loved the button fly detail!
What could have been better…
-
Fit – Similar to the Straight Leg jeans these were both too big in the waist and thighs. Additionally, they looked frumpy in the knee area. However, I think they might have fit better if I were closer to my normal weight.
-
Length – Even though I’m wearing the short inseam length, these seemed to be slightly long compared to the pictures on their website. Therefore, I’d recommend shortening them since they have a raw hem (unfinished).
