Thank you to everyone who took my Insta Stories poll and annual reader survey! Many of you expressed interest in seeing more reviews of sustainable brands, which is awesome! Finding sustainable brands with petite sizing is hard — there’s only a few that I know of such as Eileen Fisher and Christy Dawn. Therefore I often try out sustainable brands with regular or missy sizing to see if there are petite-friendly options!

Before we dive into the review I wanted to preface by saying that fashion sustainability is a work in progress. While brands may call themselves sustainable, it’s important to do your own research and not just rely on the brand’s rhetoric. I think what ADAY does well from a sustainability perspective is design. They focus on creating styles which can be worn multiple ways and last multiple seasons (rather than designing super trendy items). 

When I received the items I ordered, what surprised me was that they’re made of a technical, performance-like fabric. Some of their pieces are made of recycled synthetic fabrics, but others pieces are not like the Over in One Dress and That’s a Wrap Top. I would be curious to know if they are planning to source more recycled fabrics in the future. However, they do state on their website they say that they use mill partners that are Oeko-tex + Bluesign approved. (More info here.) As previously mentioned, sustainability is a work in progress. Brands have to work towards over time because it can be difficult to source materials. 

Another thing that surprised me about ADAY is that all the pieces I ordered didn’t have zippers. All of their clothes fasten using small snaps. In some ways this was bonus because it made putting on the garment easy and you didn’t have to worry about your makeup potentially transferring onto them! However, on a few of the garments I wish there were a few more snaps.

ADAY Over in One Dress – Size X-Small

What I loved…

• Versatile – This dress is great because you can wear it two different ways — either belted (fit & flare look) or unbelted (A-line look). 

• Fabric – It feels like more of a technical, performance-like fabric which I wasn’t expecting. However, I liked how lightweight and airy the fabric felt.

• Petite-friendly  – While this dress is not offered in petite sizes, I found that the length worked well for me. (Front body length = 35.2’’)

What could have been better…

• Slightly big in the bust area – This dress was a bit roomy in the bust area. When I looked in the mirror as I was trying on this dress, I noticed it was gaping outward at the bust. It wasn’t extremely noticeable, but I ideally would have like it to be more fitted. For reference, I was reading back over their website and they also suggest to size down for a slimmer fit since the dress fits oversized. 

Garment measurements**:

Front body length = 35.2’’ or 89.4 centimeters

Bust = 35.4’’ or 89.9 centimeters

Waist = 37.8’’ or 96 centimeters

Hip = 53.1’’ or 134.9 centimeters

Verdict: Buy, but size down!  (While not a perfect fit, I did appreciate the versatility of the garment.)

ADAY That’s A Wrap Top – Size X-Small

What I loved… 

• Adjustable sleeve width – One cool feature about this top is that you can adjust the width of sleeves using the snap closures. It makes that top even more versatile and allows you wear it lots of different ways. I will say too that the sleeves are a petite-friendly length. 

• Versatile – This top is created to be worn a bunch of different ways, which I didn’t really realize until after I took the photos for the post. I wasn’t obsessed with how it looks in the photos I took. However, I tried it out the alternate styling options I liked those better. (Will be sharing those on my YouTube channel!) 

What could have been better…

• Try sizing down – I ordered an XS even though I generally wear a size S in tops because that’s what I thought would fit better based on their garment size chart. 

• Sleeve armholes – The armholes of the sleeves were a bit too big for me. While the design is intended to be oversized, they still were too big.

Back body length = 23.4’’ or 59.4 centimeters

Bust = 38.8’’ or 98.6 centimeters

Sleeve length* = 30’’ or 76.2 centimeters

Armhole opening = 20.25’’

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around. 

ADAY Cool Down Crop – Size Small

What I loved…

• Style – I love this silhouette — it’s so chic!

• Length –  When I order from brands that don’t offer petite sizing, I usually opt for crop tops because they end up being almost a normal length for me. I’d recommend wearing this top with higher rise jeans than I’m wearing here. (For reference, I’m wearing Levi’s 721s).

What could have been better…

• Needs additional closures – I wish this top had an additional snap closure along the front criss cross section because it kept gaping open when I moved. I could see myself needing to constantly adjust it will wearing it so this was a deal breaker for me.

Front body length = 18’’ or 45.7 centimeters

Back body length = 17’’ of 43.2 centimeters

Bust = 34.2’’ or 86.9 centimeters

Waist = 30’’ or 76.2 centimeters

Verdict: Don’t buy, shop around.

ADAY Easy Days Pant – Size Small

What I loved…

• Design – I was drawn to this style because it reminds me of paper bag pants! They are great casual pant for every day. 

• Petite-friendly length – Even though this pant is not a petite size, I found the length worked well for me. (Inseam = 26.5’’)

• Fabric – I love how lightweight and comfy the fabric feels! 

What could have been better…

• Rise was too short – These pants were close to being a winner for me, but the front rise was a bit short. It’s not overtly obvious in the front facing photo, but there’s definitely some camel toe action happening. One way to fix this is to wear the pants lower on your waist since the waistband is elastic, however I didn’t find this as comfortable.

Hip = 42.5’’ or 108 centimeters

Front rise = 11.8’’ or 29.7 centimeters
