PULL UP FOR CHANGE MOVEMENT: Gap currently has 4% Black representation in corporate roles. They do not have black representation on the executive leadership team. The level of Black representation at Gap is below the 10% benchmark set by Sharon Chuter the founder of the movement. This benchmark was chosen because it represents the percentage of Black college graduates in the US.

I was surprised and excited when I discovered that GAP started offering curvy fit jeans in petite sizes earlier this year! I stumbled upon them digging through the depths of their website! Over the last year, there truly has been an explosion in the number of brands offering curvy fit denim, which I’m so happy about! Finally brands are waking up and realizing that women with different body types exist and are looking for clothes that actually fit them.

MY MEASUREMENTS

Bust = 34.5’’

Waist = 28’’

Stomach = 31’’

Hip = 40’’

Thigh = 22’’

Calf = 12.25’’

Inseam = 27’’

Bicep = 9.5’’

MY DENIM RATING SCALE

Length: 1 to 5 (1 being not petite friendly, 5 being petite friendly)

Fit: 1 to 5  (1 being not curve/pear friendly, 5 being curve/pear friendly)

Waist Gap: 1 to 5 (1 massive waist gap, 5 no waist gap)

Price: $ to $$$$ ($: under $50, $$: $50 to $99, $$$: $100 to $149, $$$$: $150 and up)

GAP Sky High Curvy True Skinny Ankle Jeans – Size 28 Petite 

What I loved…

• High rise – This is my preferred rise when it comes to jeans!

• Comfortable – These are a great pair of skinny jeans that I’d feel comfortable wearing all day. I found the fit is quite similar to the Everlane Curvy Fit Jeans, which I own and love.

What could have been better…

• Too short – These are an awkward length on me. They fall roughly an inch or two above my ankle, which makes them look like high water pants. If you’re shorter than me and/or your inseam measurement is around 25’’, then these will be the right length for you. This is probably the first time in my life I’ve ever worn petite jeans that were too short for me!

• Slightly big in waist – While they were slightly big for me in the waist it wasn’t a dealbreaker. However, I’d recommend wearing them with a belt.

Verdict: Buy! (For me, these are a “no” because the inseam is too short. However, I know that some readers are shorter than me. Therefore, I don’t want to completely write these jeans off because they would well for petites under 5’ 2’’ or have a body inseam measurement around 25’’.)

GAP Mid Rise Curvy True Skinny Jeans – Size 28 Petite

What I loved…

• Length – Compared to the Sky High Skinny Jeans, the length of these worked much better for height. They fell right at the ankle bone where I like them to hit!

• Soft – They definitely get points for the comfy fabric! 

What could have been better…

• Whiskering at crotch – I had some funky drag lines at the crotch area, which were a deal breaker for me. The high rise options fit me so much better. So in the case of choosing between the two I would definitely go for the high rise ones.

GAP High Rise Curvy True Skinny Ankle Jeans – Size 28 Petite

What I loved…

• Too short – Similar to the Sky High Rise jeans, these are also not truly ankle length for me. They ended above my ankle bone and looked awkward. (Inseam measurement = 23.625’’) However, if you have a shorter inseam than me, these would likely work for you.

What could have been better…

• A little frumpy – They bunched up around my knees quite a bit and looked frumpy in my opinion. I definitely preferred the Sky High Rise jeans compared to these ones because they fit me much better in the leg area. 

• Slightly big in waist – These were also slightly big in the waist for me, but they weren’t terrible.
