NOTE: In order to provide readers of my Blog with the most clothing options to choose from, I try out more styles than I’m personally able to buy and keep. I do my best to note which items I have personally bought. Please be aware that items with a “Buy” rating may not be ones I personally own. The “Buy” rating indicates that the clothing item passes my standards for garment fit. This blog post contains “affiliate links” (i.e. a link with a special tracking code). PULL UP FOR CHANGE MOVEMENT: Everlane currently has 6% Black representation across the entire organization and 8% in leadership roles, but no representation at the C-suite of board level. The level of Black representation at Everlane is below the 10% benchmark set by Sharon Chuter the founder of the movement. This benchmark was chosen because it represents the percentage of Black college graduates in the US.
When Everlane released Curvy Fit Authentic Stretch jeans in Fall 2019, I was so surprised! While they’ve started feature more models with curves in their product photography, it wasn’t always that way in the past. However, I’m appreciative they are making an effort to be more inclusive of different body types. Not only are they trying to be more inclusive from a marketing perspective, but now also from a product perspective since they launched Curvy Fit.
Personally, I thought their Regular Fit Authentic Stretch jeans fit me decently well, but I’m never one to turn down trying a curvy fit jean. Especially if it offers the promise of no waist gaps 🙂
So you might be wondering what the heck is the difference between Curvy Fit and Regular Fit? The answer — it’s all about the waist to hip ratio. My natural waist measurement is 28’’ and my hip measurement is 40’’, which means my waist to hip ratio is 0.70. (For reference, according to Fashion-Incubator a curvy is defined as a woman with a waist to hip ratio less than 0.75.) Curvy fit garments are designed to fit women who have a waist that is proportionally much smaller than their hips. To account for curvy proportions Everlane increased the hip measurement of their jeans relative to their Regular Fit. (Curvy Fit Hip measurement = 36.325’’ vs Regular Fit Hip measurement = 34.5’’). It’s hard to determine the exactly amount Everlane added in the hips of the Curvy Fit because the front rise measurement of the Regular Fit jean is a half inch higher than the curvy fit. I’m over simplifying here, but you get the gist 🙂
The other main difference I noticed between their Curvy Fit and Regular Fit is that the back rise is nearly 1 inch longer. (Curvy Fit back rise measurement = 15.875’’ vs Regular Fit back rise measurement = 15.125’’). If you’ve ever felt like your jeans were too tight around your butt, it’s probably because the back rise was too short. As a pear-shaped woman, I have undoubtedly face this issue before. So I appreciated having a little extra room in the back to accommodate my booty!

Everlane Curvy Authentic Stretch High Rise Skinny Jean – Size 28 Ankle
What I loved…
-
Perfect length – I’m so happy that Everlane offers ankle length jeans because they were just the right length for my short legs!
-
Wash – Their mid-blue wash is absolutely gorgeous! It’s perfect for everyday wear. Also I love the cool whisker marks near the front pockets.
-
Super comfy – I love how incredibly soft the fabric is! They are the kind of jeans you want to wear all the time.
What could have been better…
-
Slightly big in the waist – These were soooo close to fitting me in the waist, but sadly the waist was slightly too big. It wasn’t a deal breaker by any means because I had encountered the same issue with their Regular Fit Authentic Stretch Jeans. The waistband was super stretchy and hugged my waist so it didn’t feel like they were going to slide down. That being said I generally wear a belt with all my jeans so I probably would wear one with these too.
